Warning! The pieces in the Seed Starter Basket are made from PLA, which begins melting at 120°F (50°C). Do not use hot water or place in a hot environment (outside, in a car, in a hot grow tent, etc). It can be placed on a grow mat, because those normally don't get above 85°F (30°C).
Thanks for your interest in my Seed Starter Basket! To use it:
Grab a cup, place the bottom piece inside with the lip facing down, and put the string in the middle hole halfway through the center
Place the funnel on the top to prevent spilling, then fill with soil up to the start of the funnel
You can use the brush included to get soil out of any cracks
Find the correct planting depth on your seed packet, and use the dibber to make hole at that depth
Plant the seed in the hole
Cover the hole with soil
Lightly water the soil from above
You don't need much, just enough the wet the seeds a little
Add the frosted cover to the cup
Align the flat side of the cover with the flat side of the cup. It should have a tight fit
Write the name of the plant on the tag and insert it into the slot on the cup
Repeat the steps above for all four cups
Place the basket in a bright spot (but make sure it doesn't get over 120°F (50°C)! )
You don't need to add any water to the basket until the seeds sprout
Check back each day to see if the seeds have sprouted.
Once a seed has sprouted, remove the cover
Apply light pressure and twist slightly to remove the cover without damaging it
Pull up the tray using the bolt in the middle, and fill the basket with about 1/2 cup of water
Seedlings don't need much water. Adding too much water to the basket can make the soil soggy, damaging the plants and staining the basket
Don't water the seedlings from above. It can increase the chances of getting diseases and fungus gnats
Check on the seedlings every few days. If the basket is dry, add another 1/2 cup of water
Once the seedlings get larger (about 3 inches tall), you can add 1 cup of water as needed
You can also add a small amount of fertilizer to the water to give your plants a boost
And that's it! Please contact me if you have any questions or feedback. Happy Growing!

Warning! The pieces in the Seed Starter Basket are made from PLA, which begins melting at 120°F (50°C). Do not use water that is too hot.
To clean, use warm (not hot) water and mild soap. Thoroughly dry before using again.
For more stubborn stains, try dipping a stiff brush into white vinegar and gently srubing the pieces. Rise with warm water, then thoroughly dry before using again.
To prevent stains and buildup, clean and dry peroidcally.
All of the pieces in the Seed Starter Basket, except for the bolts, chain, tags, and string, are made from Polylactic Acid (PLA). It's safe to throw away, but it will not break down in the normal conditions of a landfill. It also can't be composted in your backyard.
It is biodegradable under the right conditions and can be recycled at special facilities. If you're interested in recycling, I recommend looking up PLA recycling facilities near your area such as Printerior. Typical recycling programs do not accept PLA.
You can also check local 3D printing groups near you. Some 3D printing enthusiasts have the equipment to grind up PLA and turn it into new filament that can be reused!
